Hi, I’m Layne, and I’ve been exactly where you are. That’s how I ended up with this job; a rescue Stafford threatening to fee fi fo fum people and dogs, Chester had me in the deep-end and frustratingly isolated!
I was already a trainer and had lived with strong-willed and reactive dogs before but none matched Chester's needs. It was a really hard advocating for a dog who threatened everyone but was so desperately in need of connection. I always say to clients, no one truly understands until they've lived this.
So, off to school we went, to learn from the best I could find, and my dangerous dog transformed into an inspirational training partner, actively helping my clients with their fearfully aggressive dogs. Chester's legacy is not only in those dogs who can now socialise but in all the dog's I've helped since. Human-directed aggression requires skills, hypervigilance and confidence that I refined as his guardian, which continue to keep me safe when supporting dog's in distress. Chester is the very reason why I can help you today. He was a gift in disguise.
QUALIFIED - EXPERIENCED - ALWAYS LEARNING
Layne is fully insured, broadly experienced, with an accredited education gained through practical, written, oral examinations from the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers. Layne is also qualified in Canine Nutrition and Behaviour, ensuring the advice given in consults is scientifically sound. Currently, Layne is progressing through a degree in Dog Behaviour with the IMDT, and continues her professional development with various experts to ensure the most accurate, ethical and effective methods are applied.
Layne lives in Presteigne, Wales, with her two dogs; Hero, a young entire male Jack Russell Terrier, and Kiki, an adolescent entire female ex-street dog of various breeds. Their training ventures are shared on social media, where you'll see Kiki work through Resource Guarding, and Hero navigate the world as a budding therapy dog.
